Computer science  is the discipline that seeks to build a scientific foundation for such topics as computer design, computer programming, information processing, algorithmic solutions of problems, and the algorithmic process itself. Consequently, it provides the underpinnings for today’s computer applications as well as the foundation for tomorrow’s applications.

Department Objectives:-
The main objectives of computer science department are:
1-    “To provide the local and international market with a highly qualified, capable graduates in the field of computer science”.
The graduates are exposed to theoretical and scientific foundations
of computer science. During the teaching process students build
their career through out a set of well designed courses.
Students gain the experience and the skills needed by attending
special laboratories as part of the teaching plan, three summer trainings,
third year project and graduation project.
2-    “To help in  the technology transfer to the Egyptian society ”
The department by its available staff and infrastructure transfers
the-state-of-the-art in the field of computer science to cope with
the dynamically changing technology.
3-    “To establish a strong research and development environment“
As medium and long term objective, the department encourages the
Research and development in the computer science field by establishing
“the Research and Development Center” in its premises and by
the future post graduate studies
