I'm with sunny from cascade flooring, American we've stepped out of the showroom, was in a brand new home where cascade flowing America has provided the flooring, and it is all floor hardwood floor in this home that a normal new trend or is that just the way things Have been for a little while? Well, you know what it's been that way a little while now and it's a lot of the great room setups that are the new homes. People like to entertain a lot. So it's very open not a lot of segregation between rooms, family rooms, and rooms. Things like that, so it lends really nicely to having a hard surface such as hardwood. So it's it's! It's been very popular and it's a gorgeous application here.
As you can see, it is, and this floor is different - I mean I noticed it right away yeah. It has some very eating things going on, including a little bit of the color, the texture yeah. So this particular product is something that it's newer to the industry. It's I'm sure a lot of people heard of what's called strand bamboo and we can talk a little bit about that and the durability x' that come with it. But I want to kind of talk real briefly about hardwood floors and people's expectations, their lifestyles and if it's the right product for them when they come inside because every day we have people come in and get in hardwood floors.
Is it durable enough for usually family? The kids, the dog, I brought out a couple kind of things that people are gonna recognize so American cherry, it's a beautiful floor, it's one of the softer ones. When I talk about the softness of woods, I'm talking about the tree itself and the species of tree and whether it's gonna dent easily or not red oak or a white oak very similar. These are ones that you've probably seen a lot of homes in the northwest because it's very hot for many many years and if you got a house bill in the 80s or in the 90s, there's probably got some oak floors in it right now.
There's a there's! A scale called the junk scale and I'll touch on it. Briefly, cuz really boring stuff. I'm gonna show just a little bit here and, and this one is about 660 on the junk scale, and this one is about 1250, the new product you're. Looking at here, the Strand bamboo is closer to 3,200. When you look at the product here they've, this is a little different. The traditional strand, bamboo that we can see here is that it's real, smooth and finish now. That's what I'm used to thinking bamboo flooring. Look like correct, so this original stay in the original bamboo States closer to oak, so it's around the 1200 range 12:50 depending on who tests it, whether it's caramel our carbonized or a natural state that has affected a little bit.
But what I've noticed with the bamboo floors is because of the smooth smooth finish. It does tend to show things and scratches and dents, with lights coming across it. So this product is now an engineered product which means they've, taken bamboo and basically woven it and then under heat and pressure, they'll take something that maybe not exact to your science here but take a loaf. Let's say three feet: wide condense it down to one foot wide under heat and pressure, and it makes it three times harder than its original state.
